The budding bromance between our cool president and recording artist Akon is set to benefit upcoming celebs in the country. The Senegalese born recording artiste was the president’s guest last week and while here he held talks with President Uhuru’s private secretary Jomo Gecaga about the prospects of starting a mentorship programme in the country.
Speaking to Word Is, director of digital communication in the Office of the President, White house IT specialist Dennis Itumbi said ”They discussed how to start a mentorship programme for upcoming artistes and how to link them up to international celebs. Akon promised Jomo that he would return by end of the year.”
Akon came to the country for his Lighting Africa project that will support the government’s initiative to light up Kibera and other selected parts of rural Kenya.
