Angelina Jolie to Direct a Film about Kenyan Conservationist Richard Leakey

Angelina Jolie is set to direct a film about veteran Kenyan conservationist Richard Leakey’s fight with ivory hunters. This is according to the studio behind the movie who spoke to AFP.
The Grammy award winning Hollywood actress will get behind the cameras in the series titled Africa.

“I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life,” Jolie said.
The film is about “a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers, who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him,” she said.

Richard Leakey, the former head of Kenya Wildlife Service is known for his role in stemming the rampant poaching of the late 1980s, using extreme measures including sending helicopter gunships into national parks.

No dates have been released yet.
