In the entertainment world, especially when it comes to the music sector legal issues regarding plagiarism of content, concept unauthorized use and even rights issues pertaining to the band names.
It seems like Kenyas popular band Elani could soon find themselves in a legal predicament as they share the name with an American group.
In a twisted coincidence both of these musical bands are trios but the American Elani was formed in 2005 while our Kenyan version started using it in four years ago.
According to a Kenyan Elani guys, they had no idea another Elani was out there until a year after. They are not however worried about legal battles over the name as they have already registered it unlike their American counterparts.
We will wait and see if any of the groups will take it to courts to claim the rights.
