Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta finally met the Migori delegation that came hundreds of miles to say sorry.
About 8 buses were used to bring the over 500 ‘elders’ to State House in Nairobi county. This is probably the worst waste of public resources we’ll see in a long time. It was reported that each delegate recieved at least Sh7000 allowance.
It’s not yet clear who between the county government of Migori and the national government footed the bill, but I would be disappointed if the guys in charge of auditing do not ask questions.
Part of the reason the President met them a day late was apparently the catering arrangements. The state House official caterer Safari Park Hotel was reportedly not given a timely notice to prepare food for such a large gathering.
These pictures show them dining at State House is an expensive and delicious affair. You can be show the lunch bill alone was millions of shillings. In addition to the costs of tents, chairs and other miscellaneous, you tend to remember Boniface Mwangi and his pigs demonstrations.
