The world accident victims day also referred to as World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims takes place on the third Sunday in November of each year. It went down over the weekend and Nairobi senator Mike Sonko was on hand to commemorate the day.
The philanthropic senator commemorated the day with victims and parents of Loreto Msongari School-James Gichuru Road in Lavington. The pupils and teachers from the school were involved in a fatal accident on July 2011 as their school bus rammed into a Kerugoya Secondary School bus along the Meru-Nanyuki highway. The fatal accident claimed the lives of two pupils on the spot and scores of others were left injured.
The senator gave 400,000 shillings to assist the survivors, an amount that was topped up by the president to total Sh 1 million.
