President Uhuru Kenyatta today made history as the first president to ride in a Matatu from State house to KICC. The president who was launching the My cashless 1963 card rode in the matatu with Safaricom CEO bob colimore and journalists.
The new My cashless 1963 is a card that will enable commuters to pay for their bus fare electronically as opposed the traditional system which has been a struggle for both the commuters and matau owners.
The electronic fare system was announced by the government in the beginning of this year and it is expected that it will increase revenue for both the matatu owners inform of profits and the government in form of tax.
