Mother to the Mining Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has passed away, Rahma bint Saleh, died in her sleep yesterday.
She was 82 years old and living at her home in Kizingo estate, Mombasa.
Najib, who is ill, landed in Mombasa at around 11am. He was grateful to family and friends for their support.
People gathered at the Kizingo residence to condole with him and his family.
People described Saleh as a strong woman for raising all her children after the death of her husband.
"She lived a healthy life and was a strong mother of all her children," said Nyali politician Yasir Noor.
The cortege will leave Kizingo at 9am on Thursday morning for 11am prayers at Shibu Mosque, Mwembe Tayari.
