KEBS has banned five maize millers company over high level of aflatoxins in their products. These maize millers are Dola by Kitui Four Mills, Kifaru by Alpha Grain Limited, Starehe by Pan African Grain Milers, Two ten by Kenblast Limited and Jembe by Kensal Rise Limited.
The recommended amount of aflatoxins in Kenya is 10 parts per billion. The five companies had more than the recommended level of aflatoxins leading to their licence being cancelled. KEBS has also seized some of the products and asked supermarkets and other retail owners to get rid of them.
