Caroline Mutoko is leaving her morning show after more than a decade. Stepping in her big shoes will be Shaffie Weru and Kalekye Mumo. It is not clear what’s Chipukeezy’s and Linda Nyangweso’s fate, but they’ll most likely be pushed to the afternoon drive show.
Anyhow, not everyone is pleased with the choice of replacement. Mutoko was excited to announce to her Facebook fans of the new developments, but instead ended up defending Shaffie from the less than enthusiastic crowd.

The most popular comment came from one Yonah M. Chebo , who wrote, “Ati Shaffie in the morning?I swear this guy will fill the morning with crap and useless testesterone!”
Mutoko however promptly replied to him.
“Yonah you are wrong and I dare you to tune in on Monday and because I know you will be amazed, I will take my apology in cupcakes and kisses:-)” she wrote.
Liz Njoki then wrote, “Shaffie is too loudy for a morning show!” , to which Mutoko replied, “Liz Njoki – I promise you, uta ota na yeye. You will go to bed waiting for morning so you can hear him.”
In another post, Joel Mwangi wrote, “We are used to intellectualism in the morning not juvenile crap. Without you caroline am off to BBC fultime-HAKI!”
Carol replied “unatisha nani:-) Utarudi, kwanza haraka. Relax. Tune in on Monday.”
The comments were mostly negative, and it is clear that the new crew will have a hard task retaining Caroline Mutoko’s listeners. Only time will tell though.
However, it was not only Shaffie on the receiving end. Chipukeezy is apparently also not very popular.
One Boniface Mutumah wrote, “ Ikiwezekana chipukeezy kapelekwe midnight show ndo niwe nimelala by then. Kanaambukiza watu ufala..” To which many other commenters approved.
