Reknown Academic professor Ali Mazrui is dead.
Professor Mazrui passed away at 3am East African time on Monday morning in the USA where he has been lecturing.
The professor was born in Mombasa in 1933, Mazrui is famed for his writings on politics in Africa as well as Islamic studies.
Plans are already underway to transport his body back to Mombasa for burial.
The exact cause of his death is not yet clear, but it will be determined soon. May he rest in peace
