Henry Njenga aka Mwalimu wa Jane scooped all the votes by garnering 219 votes together with veteran artist Albert Gacheru, better known for his ‘Mwendwa Wakwa Mariru’ hit winning the second director’s post with 203 votes. Frasha of P Unit and Lady B, who were both contesting, only got 48 and 35 votes respectively. This was a big shock for the famous artistes who thoroughly campaigned on social media.
“It’s sad that we have the numbers to change things but when it comes time to vote urban artistes are too busy to come out. Thanking everyone who came out yesterday and proud of Lady B for trying to stand up for change. Congratulations to MWalimu wa Jane, our new director Nairobi region,” said Nonini on his Facebook page.
The music body tasked with overseeing the distribution of royalties for the airplay their music receives.
