According to the Nairobi City County about 1,587 plots registered in their names have not been paid the land rates and this could lead to their auction to settle the debt.

“Notice is hereby given that due process that will lead to the auction of the listed properties situated within the jurisdiction of the Nairobi City County has now been commenced on account of rate arrears to the county,” Gregory Mwakanongo
Speaking to the Star, land rate chief accountant Peter Muriith said “The properties we have listed are in Lang’ata sub-county alone. We are moving to Dagoretti and we will publish another list,”
The good news is that they still have some time to pay as the waiver ends on October 31 following which the lands will be at risk of being auctioned.
