Australian TV news channel 7 has reported that Esther Arunga and her husband have been arrested.
This follows reports that the 3 year old boy was said to be playing with his two year old sibling when he fell down the stairs was killed by the couple.
Police are still investigating the issue and the couple said to be held at a local police station.
